My brother, these are some of the most amazing pictures i've ever seen. You have captured the spirit and essence of the country in a truly magnificent manner. I too have just returned (Jan.'05) from this blessed country and was awed by its richness and depth. The pictures of Yeha were particulary interesting to me because this is a place I wanted to visit but didn't get the chance to go. I'm glad to be one of the blessed ones who've been able to make this pilgrimage to this land of wonders...Excellent work. One Love, Michelle

Hi, I am doing an assignment on Ethiopia for class. I lived there for many years and I am going back there in may. I have a lot of images of my own, but would it be possible to use some of the images on your site in my assignment? If you agree, please email me and let me know what name you would like to be displayed along with your pictures. It's just a small interactive presentation I'm making for class. Thank you, David

This is a wonderful website. I'm 17 years old born and raised in America. But whats so amazing that I speak my native language and know so much about ETHIOPIA HISTORY. I know so much that many people thought I was born back home. Words can't express how ETHIOPIAN CHURCHES ARE THE HOLIEST place to pray. But its wonderful to learn so many things at once and knowing so much without anyone teaching me. I give this website a two thumbs up. Much love and god bless.

Beautiful pictures. Beautiful lay-out with the right quantity of text. Note that Takla Haymanot is not included in the Nine Saints of the sixth century. He is first of all a historical abuna who died in 1313. Founder of the monastery of Dabra Libanos. He is also the saint, who prayed for such a long time that he broke a leg. He continued praying for 7 years on one foot, so god gave him three pairs of wings to facilitate his task. The angel Michael replaced his leg. Practical question: is it possible to reload the batteries of a digital camera during the trip. Intend to go there for a second time by january next.

This is a very good website...I truly love it You have a true talent for pictures and you heart is open to others civilization, so is your eye then. Please keep doing such wonderful job, and give yourself the chance to do a photography show in the aim to shows to other people that there are other cultures in our planet. The pictures from the Yunnan are absolutely amazing. If any step carved in the slope of the mountains is equal to one lifes man of work, one can imagine by counting the step of the mountains, for how long the people from this valley have been living there....and how deep is their knowledge of those mountains and the sky. What can we say. It has been a fourteen hours journey around the world with your wonderful 'Photo' adventure. To think you have done all that in real-time! What a fortunate human you must be! We are very supportive of all web-sites which are bringing quality and 'richness' to the world-wide-web. You are doing that in barrow loads! Keep up the terrific work. Such wonderful skills displayed with such unique and original selection and the notes where you have put them in Like on Cuba, add so much to the pictures. It has been a very rewarding and satisfying day. At last somebody who puts it up there for what it is, without the threats about copyrights and such like. I can only tell you that we shall be featuring you strongly in the new Winter 2004/5 Edition of GigaLinks. It should make the potential for what you have started move on all that little faster. I really think that you have enough of a library to prove your objective is possible and a reality. BUT NEED DEEPENING! Should you make an application to UNESCO or any of the UN agencies for finance, a grant or subsidy, to finish off your project before you get too old, be assured, we shall be delighted to support your application You have the full weight of the Targ Organisation Trust, the largest free content educational web-site on the web right behind you - even promoting you this winter. Well thats the lot for now. Excellent day Well spent. To say that at '67' means I have had pleasure and information. Oh, the Dogon images excellent stuff. Thanks. Kind Regards. Targ Eagle. (Admin)

They each gave a different gift...To the Traveller,Ode to a Star,Final Tree and Greetings most especially moved me Gabriela Mistral and Pablo Neruda are two beings who have reached within and pulled from themselves fibers of their soul and were able to put these moments of dicernment in time capsules, now forever cherished... It was truly a pleasure and honor to view and recite their work.

Elizabeth rodriguez
cali, valle kolumbien - Friday, September 19, 2003 at 08:05:33 (CDT)
Answer to Elizabeth Rodriguez: Photographying women in Islamic countries, especially the more conservative ones like Yemen, is a very sensitive issue. It is not polite and often offensive to take photos of women without getting permission from themselves or their male relatives such husbands or adult sons. It was unfortunate that I got only a few permissions during the entire trip, and the photos are not among the best ones posted on my web page.

I would like to have some information about Morocco, I am planning of going to Morocco if I could, since I travel alone it mught be difficult for me to get along with morocan custom I usually travel for a long time 1 month to 3 month in the same country, but for this time I will travel just for 3 weeks. Your photographs are fantastic. Have you thought of displaying them in the Cultural Center in Chicago. It's a magnificent old building that was the former main library of Chicago that at one time was destined to be demolished. Sis Daley, the wife of the f rmer mayor and Mother of the current mayor fought for its presevation, and now it has been restored to it's former glory. Artists display their works there. It would be a fitting showcase for your talents.

I was in that area too and I`m a photographer. That made me curious to have a look at your pictures. I only opened the first 3 pictures. That`s a pity, because you seem to be a really good photographer.I hope you don`t mind me giving you some advice: 1. Choose a lower resolution for your pictures on screen, it takea too long until they are on screen. 2. Make them a bit smaller, it isn`t fun for the viewer if he/she has to scroll. 3. Add some contrast (do you use photoshop?) that will improve them. This work is worth while, because your pictures seem to be really good. When you are ready give me a mail, I`d like to have a look at the other pictures then. Bye for now, Renate
