The snow-capped volcano El Misti
(5,822m) adds a beautiful backdrop to the colonnade at the centre
of Arequipa, the second largest city in Peru. UNESCO declares the
city a World Heritage Site, citing "an example of ornamented
architecture represents a masterpiece of the creative coalition
of European and Native characteristics". |
