In Amarapura, a woman attempts to stretch her limit by adding more bricks on her neck(below). Gender difference plays little role in Myanmar. Women share equally, if no more, the burden of life with their male counterparts. They do all works men do. However, when it comes time to carry weight, they seem to be wiser by taking advantage of their heads and necks. From the start of the childhood, Myanmar women acquire a delicate sense of balance that most men appear to be unable to achieve (above, bottom two).
